Praia da Luz, Portugal
Praia da Luz is situated on the southern coast of Portugal, known usually as the Western Algarve, looking over the Atlantic Ocean. The climate here is similar to North Africa or California and enjoys over 3000 hours of sunshine each year.
Praia da Luz is just a few kilometers from the area's largest town of Lagos with its commercial centre, restaurants and marina and just one hour by car from the Algarve capital of Faro. Faro Airport is less than 3 hours flying time from most UK airports. Praia da Luz has a beautiful sandy beach set against the towering rugged rocks and the white villas and cottages of the town. Formerly a fishing village it has retained its charm and character whilst adapting to the demands of a modern lifestyle offering water sports and many other activities. It has many superb restaurants and bars suitable for all tastes, from cocktails to genuine Irish Guinness and quiz nights to Karaoke. Praia da Luz has balanced the old with the new and has managed to maintain the concept of village life.
The Algarve is renowned for its fine golf courses and within 15 minutes of Praia da Luz you will find Parque de Floresta, Boavista and Palmares. The world famous championship course designed by Henry Cotton, at Penina, is just 30 minutes away. |
