Villas Da Luz

Restaurants

Praia da Luz has many good restaurants. It is fair to say that there are insufficient restaurant seats in many of the favourite restaurants during July and August. It really is best to ring and book especially for an early table. You can expect to pay around 5 euros for a starter, 12 euros for a main dish and 5 euros for a dessert. Portuguese red wine is very good and for many a red wine from the Alentejo region will taste good. Ask for Monte Velho or Monsaraz, prices will be around 10 euros per bottle. Here is a list of some of our favourite restaurants. Many of the restaurants are situated near the centre of the town and driving is unnecessary.

Duke of Holland. Nice family restaurant, good food and service with a separate bar. Children's menu available.

Cavaliero. Superb cuisine and friendly service.

Marujo. Very good restaurant, nice menu and very friendly staff.

Forteleza. An excellent restaurant housed in the old fort overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Good menu and food with the crepes suzette highly recommended. You can listen to the jazz band while you dine on a Sunday during the high season.

The Dolphin. South African owned with some speciality dishes from South Africa. Excellent friendly service.

Cachoa. This wonderful restaurant is situated just outside Praia da Luz and you will need a car to enjoy their delicious cuisine.

Burgau Beach Bar. Just outside Praia da Luz but well worth a visit. Enjoy lunch outside on the terrace looking over the beach and Ocean. You will love their fish.

Fontanario. Another restaurant just outside Praia da Luz. Enjoy a meal in their beautiful dining room or outside on the terrace. The kids can play on the swings and slide while you finish off the wine.

Lime Tree. Recently opened and nicely refurbished and decorated. The husband and wife team will ensure you have great food and an enjoyable evening.

Atlantico. A very nice Portuguese run restaurant with many local dishes, friendly staff and outside eating area.
